How does it work?
Riot Birth Network Hypnobirthing Practitioner training is split into several elements. Online modules with activities, a face to face weekend and ongoing training and support (with NO ongoing fees). Read on to find out more about our training.

The Modules
So our full instructor training kicks off with online prerecorded training which our trainees work through in their own time. They can do this evenings, weekends, on their lunch break or in the dead of night. It’s super flexible to fit around any lifestyle!

When working through this, you will be in a training group on Facebook where you can share your thoughts and have discussion with your fellow trainees. This is also where you will complete associated activities.
The Activities
There are a range of activities to go alongside the modules. These are a mixture of exploring resources, creating infographics (like. the ones in the example photo), recording a short video explaining a topic, researching and gathering statistics and things that will a) show your understanding of the training modules and b) help you practise the skills you will use day to day as a hypnobirthing instructor.
None of the activities involve essay writing or anything like that. We believe that this training and this work should be accessible to those who don’t necessarily learn in the way that traditional education focuses on. We are well aware that specialist fields such as birth work often attract those who are neurodiverse and we want to ensure that no matter who you are, you can find a way to show us how well you understand the subject matter.
Some of the activities are submitted to the RBN team to show your understanding and get you signed off. These can be done in your own time, the only thing that we ask is that they are all completed by the training weekend you have signed up for to enable us to sign you off and give you your certificate and access to the resources and main Riot Birth Network community as soon as possible after this.
The Face to Face Weekend
The training finishes up with the face to face weekend. This is where the whole group gets together (in Northampton) and we teach a course from start to finish. However; there’s a twist. It’s not us teaching most of it… it’s you lot!
Each of you will be sent instructions a few weeks before the weekend. You’ll be allocated a section of the course to teach along with some instructions of what we’d like you to cover. HOW you teach it is entirely up to you!
This is your chance to practise getting information across positively and concisely whilst using your imagination to come up with some ways to keep the group engaged.
You want to get the group to interact with you and to enjoy themselves as they do. This is the best way to get people to remember what they’re learning with you, get them laughing and get them doing some of the work!
The weekend will be full of laughter, full of revelations and will really round up all your learning so that you leave with a really good idea of how you will teach your classes. At the weekend, you’ll be provided with an instructor manual and as long as your activities from the training are complete, you’ll receive access to all the resources and the Riot Birth Network community on FB.
So you can REALLY hit the ground running!
Ongoing Support and Training
Once you’re fully trained you are welcomed into the main Riot Birth Network community alongside all the other Riot Birth Network members. This is where you can access their incredible expertise.
Whether it’s help to find resources for a client with a special circumstance you’ve never come across before or assistance in working out what local maternity policies mean and what alternatives might be, this gang will have some info for you!
We have a group full of midwives, doulas, instructors, bf supporters and various other roles, both related to birth and parenting and in other areas.
We hold masterclasses, open to all members where we can all catch up and support each other, share information on particular topics or dive into a new skill or tool together with the help of someone who has experience and knowledge.
Masterclasses are sometimes facilitated by the RBN team and other times we welcome outside guests to share their expertise. These are usually recorded (depending on the nature of them) so you can catch up on anything that takes your fancy once you join the gang!
You can lean on this network for support no matter what, they have such big hearts and an amazing amount of knowledge and experience. This network is the birth worker gang of dreams!
